Bright Eyes sells out

I tried to get tickets to see Bright Eyes at London Koko this morning but they sold out in a few minutes. The worst thing was I thought I'd got them and just as she put the transaction through she said they'd all gone. Gutted.

Other interesting news, Broken Social Scene have done the musical score for a new film

The Tracey Fragments

Opening scene :

15-year-old Tracey Berkowitz is naked under a shower curtain at the back of a bus, looking for her little brother Sonny, who thinks he's a dog.

sounds intersting!

Saiman's Top Ten 2006!

Im done! I have complied my favourites from last year and made an annoying mix for all to enjoy (will upload soon, on request). Last year was the year of good music which evie missed out on....ish and i forgot all about. Having started my degree with a bunch of RnB, DnB and hip hop heads its been hard keeping up to date with good proper MUSIC! theres so much tunes which got me going last year and early this year and here is final list!

1. CSS - Alcohol
Seeing them live at the mental academy gig just did it for me, they ROCK!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knDLHIyQpPI

2. The Grates - Science is Golden
Again seeing them play and getting the hot drummer to draw me a picture was awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FBwzSZl0IM

3. Mirah - Pollen
Both her albums "C'mon Miracle" and " you think is like this..." are equally addictive, her music is simple with a orchestral vibe....nice.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9U_qqJ9be4 not the best live video in the world

4. The Blow - Hey boy
This electro pop band are going to get you dancing for sure!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJli9bjv2YI a nice song and video but not the right song

5. Joanna Newsom - Peach plum pear
Her girlish voice and harp playing is swish. and shes hot!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcHjAUhtSrk

6. Oh No Oh My! - Lisa make love (its ok)
its a nice song by a nice band
(song to follow)

7. The Microphones - Witch Doctor
Amazing song which i cant seem to find right now! but heres a link to another on utube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1Gk0Yome0o

8. Your Black Star - Oh Jesus
Trully one of those songs which you play over and over again. So powerful happy music.
Again couldt find the track so heres a link to another song of theirs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhqJ9hN4Nhg

9. Silversun Pickups - Lazy eye (******* its my number 1!!!!!!!!)
OMG this song has been stuck in my head for ages and this band are just flawless! this music video is like a wes anderson its beautiful short.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-mxBDuRaZ8

10. Shoe Shiners - we know who the winners are
the whole album fashion house is full of catchy tunes with killer riffs
(download to follow)

Evie's top ten 2006

So here it is... finally. My first apology goes to Saiman as I am so slow, and he has been highly anticipating the final cut of my best of 2006. Having spent a big chunk of the year outside the UK in a remote part of Greece where all they played was Shakira (although it got me dancing) was a challenge but I think I've caught up. (... I hope saiman's list is soon to follow.)

1 CSS- Alala (CSS)
various videos available for this one but this is awesome

2 Band of Horses - Great Salt Lake (Everything all the time) ...almost weed party

3 Midlake- Roscoe (Van Occupanther) ...this was my fav by far up until september.

4 Grizzly Bear - Knife (Yellow House) ...On a neck, on a spit.

5 The Knife- We Share Our Mothers Health (Silent Shout)

6 Of Montreal - She's a Rejector (Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer)...best record of year

7 The Grates - Seek Me (Gravity Won't Get You High)... hey hey

8 Silversun Pickups - Rusted Wheel (Carnavas)

9. Bishop Allen - The Flood (August Live Ep)...what a productive year

10. Jenny Lewis- The Charging Sky (Rabbit Fur Coat)

honourable mentions to many other songs...
in terms of my top albums most of these songs are taken form them, but I have listened to Albert Hammond Jr, Jouse Rouse, Tv on the Radio, The Dears, Tilly and the wall, Oh No, Oh My, The Decemberists a lot.

Best Gig of 2006, probably metric because the band were on fire, I danced and caught Emily Haines when she stage dived.

Best musically related moment...meeting Jenny Lewis.

Worst Moment...missing Broken Social Scene as I was stuck in the alps, ah well feist can wait.

what does 2007 have to offer, new Shins, Deerhoof, Postal Service, Rilo Kiley (fingers crossed), Arcade Fire...
xxxx
